Health, Safety and Environment Manager

Lactalis Bendigo is seeking a proactive, people focused and forward thinking Health, Safety and Environment Manager to lead safety and environmental performance across our site. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast paced manufacturing environment and wants to make a visible, lasting impact on culture, capability and operational excellence.Working closely with the Bendigo Site Manager and cross‑functional leaders, you’ll combine hands on engagement with strategic health, safety environment leadership to ensure our site continues to meet, and exceed, Victorian occupational health and safety and environmental expectations.Key ResponsibilitiesLead site health, safety and environment strategy:  Develop and deliver Bendigo‑specific health, safety and environment plans aligned with national frameworks.Embed practical safety leadership across all shifts and departments.Ensure compliance and continuous improvement with Victorian occupational health and safety  legislation and EPA Victoria requirements.Conduct and lead incident investigations and risk assessments that drive meaningful corrective actions.Deliver engaging training and build safety capability across the site.Monitor and analyse health, safety and environment performance, using data to influence decisions and improvements.Coach and influence leaders to strengthen visible safety leadership.Manage WorkCover processes and support early intervention and return to work outcomes.About YouCertificate IV in WHS/OHS or equivalent.Experience managing Victorian WorkCover claims and capability to perform return to work coordinator duties under WorkSafe Victoria requirements.Previous experience in a senior health, safety and environment role within manufacturing (food, beverage or dairy preferred).Strong operational understanding of safety and environmental management, including EPA Victoria expectations.Skilled communicator and natural influencer who builds trust at all levels.In depth knowledge of Victorian OHS legislation, regulations and standards.Confident coach and mentor, passionate about lifting capability across operational teams.A visible, authentic leader who brings energy, ownership and a practical mindset.Our StoryOur story began in 1933 with the Besnier family and has grown into the world’s number one dairy company.
